Pahiyas Festival: I want to Color the World

Pahiyas Festival is one of the Philippines colorful feast and tourist attraction held every 15th of May in Lucban Quezon. The festival celebration is honor of San Isidro Labrador. It is the farmer’s thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest with a grand display of KIPING (colorful rice wafers), fruits, vegetables, and handicrafts adorning every house in the town.

My Adventure was started early morning of 15th of May. I don’t have sleep that time. Maybe, I’m just so excited to witness the Pahiyas Fesival or I’m thinking I might not able to wake up on time. I went to HM bus station in Cubao @ 4am to meet my new backpacker friends, Ivan of http://ivanlakwatsero.blogspot.com and Lauren http://pandelicious.wordpress.com (naks promotion ito lol) . Just like me, they love to travel. They want to explore the 7,107 islands in the Philippines and to  find new exciting ADVENTURES .

The travel time took 2 hours @ Php 148 fare from Cubao going to Sta. Cruz Quezon. Arriving at the terminal, we decided to do jeep "top loading" for more exciting trip. Everyone was so amazed and looking upon lifting our self up.  I really don't care on what they're thinking about us. This is what I can say "kanya kanyang trip lng to tol, adventurous kami eh (this my adventure trip)" hahaha. The fare cost is Php 45.

After 1 hour of toploading on jeep,  looking the magnificent view of the town, cranking up and down at hanging tree branches, kulitan and taking pictures, we finally reached  Lucban. As I expected, traffic jam was on our way going to bayan. Everyone was walking because of it. And no matter how tired and hungry I am, I still enjoyed our  walkaton ( walk marathon)lol.

My shutter started to click the moment as we entered the center of Pahiyas. The people in Lucban were really creative and innovative. Each houses have their own design and style. There were houses covered enetirely with grains of palay and some were using vegetables  hanging and covering on its house's wall. And of course the highlight of each decorations were the colorful Kipings- a leaf shaped rice wafers that are attached together to form a different shapes. From a simple house, now, it transformed into colorful and vibrant tourist attraction.

After a long walk and photo shoot , it's time for us to do FOOD TRIP. Selling Pancit HabHab  is almost everywhere during the festival. For just 7 pesos, you can now taste their original local specialty food- Panict HabHab. . It's a local delicacy of sauteed noodles mixed with chopped pork, shrimps and vegetables. and some seasonings. The more exciting part in eating Pancit HabHab, it's placed on a rectangular banana leaf and you must eat using your mouth (HabHab). It is recommended that Pancit HabHab should be sprinkled with some vinegar to enhance it's taste.

My mind and stomach said; I want langgonisa! I want langgonisa! LOL

I think this is the 9th post I've read about the Pahiyas from the time travel bloggers started to document their trips during this year's feast. Photos and top loading experience are still the selling point of every blog, at least, to me. I'm looking forward to experience the same next time (the top loading and Pahiyas).
