The Baroque Style of the Paoay Church

One of the best and oldest churches that I consider very appealing to my eyes is the Roman Catholics parish church of the municipality of Paoay in Ilocos Norte- the Paoay Church.

Paoay Church also known as St. Augustine Church is a unique combination of Baroque, Gothic, and Oriental designs. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site as one best examples of the Baroque Churches of the Philippines.

The church is famous for its distinct architecture highlighted by the enormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. A three-storey coral stone bell tower stands a few meters away from the church, which served as an observation post in 1896 for the Katipuneros during the Philippine revolution against the Spaniards.

This is the first time I saw this kind of magnificent architectural structure. You will really feel the presence of the history on every bricks of the wall.

Inside the church, I felt a very relaxing feeling, not because I’m inside of God’s home because the church is really big. The ventilation is well-designed on every corner of the church. The chairs arranged properly and accordingly.

I’m pretty sure every girl wants to get married on this beautiful church. It is also perfect backdrop to classical romance for local and international movies. What do you think guys?
