With the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse of Burgos in Ilocos Norte

Included on the north tour given by our tricycle driver was the trip to Cape Bojeador lighthouse ( also known as Burgos Lighthouse), a cultural heritage structure in Burgos, Ilocos Norte. It is known for being the highest lighthouse in the Philippines.

Going to Cape Bojeador lighthouse is very accessible. It is 40 km. north from Laoag City, capital of Ilocos Norte. We passed by through a two-lane narrow concrete road that starts from the Maharlika Highway in Brgy. Paayas, Burgos.

No one will stop me taking pictures. Every time there’s a beautiful structure, I cannot control my finger to click the button of my camera. After taking the best spots of the area, it’s my time to be the subject of the photography. lols .

Just to give you information about this Spanish-era “parola” (lighthouse), it was first designed by Magin Pers and Pers in 1887 and was finished by the Lighthouse Service under Guillermo Brockman. The purpose of this lighthouse is to guide galleons, ships and local fishermen safely away from the rocky coast of the town as well in finding their way to shore during bad weather.

The elegant T-shaped stairway leads us to the pavilion covered with red old bricks. I really like the veranda of the main pavilion because it offers a good view of South China Sea. There was also a small museum containing evidences of the history of the lighthouse.

From the hallway of the main pavilion, the corridor took us to the entrance of the tower. This was the best spot of the parola. We saw the 360 view of the open sea. It’s really breath-taking. I feel the freshness of the air.

What I'm wearing: short and sando from Landmark store, shades, scraf and bracelet from SM Accessories, watch from Spyder, slippers from Banana Peel.

The Cape Bojeador lighthouse is really signed of the rich history of the Philippines. It's good to hear that for the past decades, the lighthouse is still functioning. See you again on my next tour :-)
