Callao Cave in Peñablanca, Cagayan

There are lots of great destinations in Cagayan. One of these tourist spots is the scenic beauty of Callao Cave in Peñablanca town, Cagayan's major tourism destination.

Callao Cave is declared as a National Park, featuring 7-chambered cave with massive limestone formations running through a calm water of the Pinacanauan River. One of the highlights inside this natural spot is the stone altar illuminated by natural skylight, producing an eerie catacomb-like atmosphere. This natural cathedral located at the first chamber of the cave was turned into a chapel.

The stalactites and stalagmites are very common inside a cave. In this area, you will see rock formations include Jackpot Cave, Quibal Cave, Odessa-Tumbali Cave System, Sierra Cave, Roc and San Carlos Caves, among others.

You will also see lots of bats and sometimes red-billed kalaw birds resting on the rocks.

The Pinacanauan River is the best for river rafting or boating, kayaking, fishing and swimming while the mountains are perfect for trekking and mountaineering.

If you will visit Cagayan province, don't forget to include Callao Cave on your itinerary. Enjoy Travelling!
