How to get to the famous Banaue, Ifugao

The province of Ifugao is famed for its beautiful landscape Ifugao Rice Terraces or Banaue Rice Terraces. The province is part of Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon with a total land area of 262, 820 hectares. One of the best is tourist destinations in the province is the town of Banaue.

How to get to Banaue, Ifugao

By Bus (Manila to Banaue)

About 350 km from Manila, you can take route Manila to Banaue via Ohayami Trans (located at Lacson Avenue corner Fajardo Street.Sampaloc Manila).  The travel time will take around 9-10 hours.  The fare is about Php 500- Php 600.
Just to inform you guys, since it's a long trip, the bus makes regular stops every 2 hours for meals, snacks, personal necessities, among others. Florida Bus Lines and Autobus have no longer offering Manila-Banaue route.

09:00 PM - Manila - Banaue
10:00 PM - Manila - Banaue
06:45 PM - Banaue - Manila
07:00 PM - Banaue - Manila

If there’s no available ride going directly to Banaue, you can take Kiangan via Lagawe, then take a jeep from Lagawe to Banaue.

Manila-Banaue via Cagayan Valley/Tugegarao Route

Another way in going to Banaue is by taking Florida Bus Lines or Victory Liner going to Cagayan Valley/Tugegarao. Inform the driver to drop off in the town of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya. After that, ride a jeepney from Solano to Lagawe, Ifugao. The travel time takes almost 3 hours. Once you reach Lagawe, take another jeep with sign board Lagawe to Banaue, Ifugao.

Manila - Baguio – Banaue

You can also take Victory bus going to Baguio. Then take a mini-bus going to Banaue. There are two daily trips: 8AM and 1:30PM.

Tips when travelling via a public transportation
  • Always prepare yourself for a long trip. Taking 9-10 hours travel is not the usual thing we are doing.
  • You might get muscle cramps especially on your legs or below the knee, so you better stretch your feet/legs all the time.
  • Secured all your things (bags, gadgets etc) and be conscious on it.
  • Always keep your ticket for inspection
  • If you're the type of person who easily get headache, don't forget to bring medicines.
  • Inside the bus is too cold, so don't also forget to bring jacket.
  • You can bring small pillow so at least you're comfortable when you're sleeping.
  • Lastly, don't forget to bring food and bottled water
