Quiapo: Pista ng Itim na Nazareno 2015

When someone says Quiapo, the Feast of the Black Nazarene or Pista ng Itim na Nazareno is the first thing that comes to my head. Last year (2013) I attended this religious event and I witnessed millions of devotees that showed their great devotion to the Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno. Everybody wants to hold the rope and touch the miraculous image. Some of them became unconscious and others got minor injuries like bruises, scratches, among others.

The Feast Black Nazarene or Pista ng Itim na Nazareno is held every 9th of January. It's annual event in the Philippines, where millions of devotees joined the “Traslacion” or the transfer of the image of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno from Luneta Grandstand to its shrine in Quiapo Church, Manila. Travel Guide To Mt Maranat

Travel time to Mt Maranat is around two (2) hours from the busy Metro. The range of the mountain lies between the provinces of (Norzagaray) Bulacan and (Rodriguez) Rizal. Maranat is now one of the famous nature destinations for mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts. It features rolling terrains, crystal clear waterfalls and luscious greenery.

Travel Tips:

1. Wear a proper attire. There are lots of bushes along the trail and the road will be slippery and muddy when it rains. It's advisable to wear leggings or soccer socks to avoid scratches from cogon grass and sharp stones. Rubber shoes or trail shoes is the best footwear than a pair of slippers. Head gear like hat or cap is also advisable to wear to protect your head from the direct heat of the sun.

Mt Maranat is one of the nearest travel destination from the Metro. It lies between the provinces of Bulacan and Rizal. Balagbag, which offers views of luscious greenery, rolling terrain, clean streams, and magnificent waterfalls.

It's past 2 o'clock in the morning when team Malaya, an international outdoor group, picked me up in Eton Centris. I'm a bit tipsy that day due to an alcoholic beverages I took from the event in Scarsdale Artisan Delights

Tropa! What will you get outside for?

Sometimes staying at home is bit boring especially if your're alone. Who would agree with me? I'm not really a home buddy that's why during weekends, I usually go outside together with my family or friends. Most of the time we indulge mountaineering. This activity gives me satisfaction when I reached the summit. Beach hopping is also one of my favorite outdoor adventures. It is very relaxing especially when I dipped my body into the crystal-clear water.

When I'm outside, a lot of exciting activities I want to try and learn. One of that is the action-packed white water rafting in Cagayan De Oro. This is not an easy outdoor activity. You need to be physically, emotionally and mentally capable of running the river. I know it's a bit a dangerous but still want to try it in the future.

I'm planning to go to Nasugbo Batangas next weekend. The weather now in the Philippines is so far doing good. No heavy rains or typhoons are yet reported that will come to the country in the next couple of days. Kwebang Lampas and Puting Buhangin Trip in Quezon Province

It’s 4 o’clock in the morning when we started to walk going to EDSA to take a bus going to Jac Liner terminal. My brother was really excited on our Puting Buhangin and Kwebang Lampas trip because this was his first time to join on my travel adventure. Even he don’t get enough sleep the other night due to his working sched, I don’t see the feeling of tiredness on his face. He’s asking a lot of questions about the island.

As we arrived in the bus terminal, I noticed there’s something missing. OMG! My phone was lost or perhaps stolen. I remembered a guy in the bus who was trying to push the limit of my patience by blocking my way.  I got irritated and my focus that time was to get inside the bus. I’m not sure if that’s the modus operandi of snatcher to steal items to his prospect.Haist...

The Reclining Buddha is Wat Pho's Ultimate Treasure

Do you know the birthplace of traditional Thai massage? Have you seen a reclining Buddha?

My 2nd stop on my Asian tour was in Thailand. All I know about this country is the populous city of Bangkok, the Phi Phi Island where Leonardo Di Carpio filmed “The Beach” movie, the beautiful white sand beach of Phuket Island, friendly elephants, and good restaurants in  Khasosan Road.

Upon checking the Thailand map, I saw the picture of a big golden Buddha. The position of it is different from other Buddha, it’s actually lying or sleeping. No wonder why Wat Pho is dubbed as the temple of Reclining Buddha. The Buddha is the largest in Thailand measuring more than 150 feet in length (about 46 meters long and 15 meters high). It is decorated with gold leaf. The eyes and foot soles are inlaid with mother-of-pearl. According to Buddhist, the Reclining Buddha illustrates the passing of the Buddha into nirvana (ie the Buddha's death). Along the Wat Phra Chetuphon image you will find a matching 108 bronze bowls, where people donate coins believed to bring good fortune.

Petronas Towers: The Crown Jewel of Kuala Lumpur

Have you been to Petronas Towers? What can you say about the iconic towers of Kuala Lumpur?

Petronas Towers, also known as Petronas Twin Towers or Menara Petronas in Malay is one of the highlights of my solo trip in Malaysia. It was recognized as tallest buildings in the world in 1998, eclipsing the former record holder, the 110-story Sears (now Willis) Tower in Chicago. The Twin Towers lost their preeminent status, until Taipei 101 (Taipei Financial Center) was completed in 2004.

Kuala Lumpur’s crown jewel is 88-storey twin skyscrapers that soars to height of 451.9 meters (roughly 1,480-foot), which built of multi-faceted walls of 33,000 stainless steel and 55,000 glass panels. Its interiors are down in a traditional Malaysian style with the use of fabric and carvings. The two towers are connected by at levels 41 and 42 by a double-decker pedestrian skybridge.

Sky Ranch Tagaytay Features Tallest Ferris Wheel In PH

Do you know where's the tallest Ferris Wheel  in the Philippines? Want to see something new in Tagaytay?

Last month, I was invited by MyPhone on the launching of its latest affordable android phone, MyPhone Fun Rio, at the Sky Tagaytay Ranch. This event was really fun and exciting because we're able to experience all the rides in the new leisure park including the Sky Eye.

I'm always planning to visit the new wonderful place in Tagaytay but unfortunately, I don’t have time. The reason why I want to go to Sky Ranch is because I’m very curious to its Ferris Wheel, which is considered as the tallest/highest Ferris Wheel in the Philippines. Woah! It has 63 meters (207 ft) with 32 gondolas, beating the Enchanted Kingdom's Wheel of Fate at 130ft and Mall of Asia Eye at 55 meters (180 ft).

Adventure Trip To Carabao Island, Romblon

After visiting our friend’s house in the town of Odiongan, we headed to San Jose, another municipality in the province of Romblon. It’s an adventure trip going to the resort with the famous motorcycle ride in the area, habal-habal. The reason why we travelled to another town is to see an emerging island paradise in the southernmost island of the province- the Carabao Island (Isla de Carabao).

Popularly known as Hambil to the locals, Carabao Island boasts with beautiful coastlines and pristine-turquoise beaches.  Some saying the island is living in the shadow of Boracay Island of Aklan, that’s why it’s dubbed as “twin sister.”

Trip to Romblon and Boracay with 2Go Travel

Crossing the sea by big passenger ship brings new meaning to slow but exciting travel. Some of us are afraid of large bodies of water. If you have fear of water (Aquaphobia), a cruise or ferry may not be the best choice for you. I know travel by sea is a bit scary especially if the waves on the surface of sea (and on ocean) are strong and big.

For those who have seen Titanic, don’t be affected on its sinking ship and drowning passengers. This is just only a movie. I know there are some scenes in this phenomenal movie are happening in real life, but don’t think it will happen in the ship you're travelling with. It will just ruin your trip. Too much thinking is not healthy as well. Just enjoy the  breeze of the air and view along the way. Always have faith. The experience of travelling in a big ferry/ship is really exciting and fun.

Visita Iglesia in Manila 2014

When I was a kid I really don’t know what Visit Iglesia is. I thought it’s just the name of a church. My neighbors are always asking me if I want to join with them to visit churches every Holy Week. Other than Vhong Navarro-Deniece Cornejo issue, which is always in the news, the cold temperature of Baguio City is also making a noise not only in television but also in the social networking sites. I’m sure you want also to feel the 8.1 degrees Celsius, which is not possible to happen in Metro Manila (I guess???).
