Hand or Carry-on Baggage in Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific

Some of you already know that aside from the checked baggage, each passenger can bring hand or carry-on baggage. This a type of luggage that passengers can carry on board

A passenger can only carry one (1) piece of Hand Baggage on board. It must fit under the seat in front of the Passenger or in an enclosed storage compartment in the cabin.

Cabin baggage should have a maximum length of 56 cm (22 inches), width of 45 cm (18 inches) and depth of 25 cm (10 inches) including all handles, side pockets, etc. Most low-cost airlines have smaller limits for the cabin baggage where one bag is commonly allowed at a size of 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm. The baggage should have the maximum weight in the range of 5 kgs to 12 kgs.

For Philippine Airlines, the carry-on luggage should not exceed 45 in. or 115 cm. and weighing not more than 7 kgs. or 15 lbs. It should also fit in the overhead rack or under the passenger seat of the aircraft cabin.

For Cebu Pacific, the carry-on luggage should not exceed 7 kgs and dimension that must not exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm.

Passengers are allowed to carry additional items such as jacket, coat, laptop bag, purse, camera bag, and small handbag.

Valuable and fragile goods (including money, precious metals, jewelry,   electronic devices, computers, cameras, video equipment, silverware, that meet the requirements for Hand Baggage, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, passports and other identification documents, title deeds, artifacts, manuscripts and the like) can only be accepted on board the aircraft as hand luggage.

Guests may bring liquids like perfume, mouthwash, gel, etc in your hand carry bag, as long as the total amount of liquids per container does not exceed 100ml.

Any kind of bags such backpack, shoulder bag, sports bags, etc are allowed on board as long the hand baggage is within the kilos weight limit.

Please make sure you double check your bag. There would be no fire lighter, knives and similar items and weapons of any kind.

Excess baggage rate depends on your destination and will be charged at the applicable local rates.

As my observation in the airport, if you are carrying a small backpack, the guards will let you go easily. It’s very noticeable on the size of the bag if you’re carrying more than 7 kgs. If they know your hand baggage is not within the weight limit, that’s the only time they gonna use weighing apparatus.

Tropa, just additional reminder, you must ensure your free hand baggage allowance is properly packed and placed in a safe and secured place so as to prevent or minimize loss or damage, and you must advise the cabin crew of the valuable and fragile nature of the contents so that appropriate care may be taken.
