What to wear in Baguio City

Before I went to Baguio City, a lot of people are asking why I want go to Baguio. They know the Panagbenga Festival will start on the first of February and it is just last week of January. I always tell them I’m very eager to experience the below 10 degrees Celsius temperature in a place which tagged as a Summer Capital of the Philippines.

Other than Vhong Navarro-Deniece Cornejo issue, which is always in the news, the cold temperature of Baguio City is also making a noise not only in television but also in the social networking sites. I’m sure you want also to feel the 8.1 degrees Celsius, which is not possible to happen in Metro Manila (I guess???).

According to news, there are some parts of Cordillera Region like Benguet, Mountain Province, Kalinga, and Ifugao are also experiencing cold temperature in the range between 12 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius. In the town of Atok and Mankayan in Benguet, the people experience 6.1 degrees Celsius. This is really cold.

Jacket or sweater is a must bring when travelling to City of Pines. Scarf or shawl is also the best clothing apparel to fight cold temperature. It’s also advisable to wear a pair of rubber shoes or boots rather than wearing slippers or sandals.

For a temperature below 10 degrees Celsius, sometimes one jacket is not enough especially early in the morning or in the evening. You need to make sure the jacket you are going to bring is thick. Or else, wear long sleeves shirt and layer it with jacket. Actually, the key to cold weather dressing is layering.

Wearing headgear like bonnet or cap will help to warm your head. Protect your hands and feet from cold by wearing gloves and long socks.

For those people who love shorts when travelling, you can wear that when the sun is up. I think jogging pants and a pair of denims are the best apparels for the cold temperature of Baguio.

What I’m wearing in Baguio is a long sweater paired with black denims. I bought the sweater in 168 Mall in Divisoria and the black jeans is from Boardwalk. I’m also wearing the blue Chuck Taylor Converse Shoes. The cap and eye glass I’m wearing are not branded, which I bought from one of  the stalls in University Belt, Manila. Accessories are from fashion authority, SM Accessories.

Tropa, if you want to stay warm all the time, what I suggest to you is to buy thermal clothing. There are thermal jacket, thermal pants and even thermal underwear, which are available in clothing and underwear shops. Thermals are great for layers and extreme cold.

If you get too cold, get inside your home or hotel immediately. If you want a place that is not so cold in Baguio City, go inside the SM Baguio. It is the first SM Supermall which does not use an Air-conditioning System. It's much warmer inside compare outside.

What I missed to do in Baguio was to go in Ukay-Ukay or Wag-Wag. Probably, I will go there in my next visit.

Hopefully, this blog will help you on what to wear in Baguio City. Enjoy travelling!
